Servant Evangelism Projects

Servant

“As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Whoever speaks, let him speak, as it were, the utterances of God; whoever serves, let him do so as by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Peter 4:10-11)

The exhortation in 1 Peter speaks to all of us: as Christians, we are called to serve and love our neighbors. Many of these projects below require us to step outside of our comfort zone to reach those whose paths we do not usually cross. May you embody Christ’s message of hope, love, and peace as you serve beyond the church walls.

Affirm Public Servants

We rely on law enforcement officers, fire fighters, delivery personnel and garbage collectors everyday to make our lives easier, but their services often go unnoticed. In fact, the contributions public servants make in our lives are plenty: educate our children, fight fires, manage our public facilities, protect our environment, build our roads and bridges, etc. Take a moment to acknowledge, affirm, and appreciate the public servants who serve you. By delivering goodies and thank you notes to public employees, you can brighten up their day and share the love of Christ.

Assemble Care Packages for Troops

A care package can be a welcome surprise for troops stationed overseas, especially during the holiday seasons. It reminds the troops that someone is thinking about them and praying for them. This project can be a church-wide event that is open for all ages.

Free Car Wash

We often encounter car wash fundraisers, but we rarely see people holding up signs that say “Free Car Wash!” By offering free car wash services, you can brighten someone’s day and reach those who may not have set foot in a church otherwise.

Free Lawn Mowing

In the summer months when the weather is unbearably hot, few look forward to mowing the lawn. For those who are homebound, lack the necessary equipment, or cannot afford a lawn cut, the growing grass can become a source of frustration. By providing a free lawn mowing service, you can ease their burden and brighten their day with a fresh cut lawn.

Free Refreshments to Motorists

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that drowsy driving causes about 100,000 crashes each year. One way you can help prevent fatigue driving is to provide refreshments for motorists at rest areas.

Gas Station Ministry

Imagine pulling up to a gas station after a long day of traveling. You are exhausted and hungry. What if someone smiled at you and offered to pump your gas, clean your windshield, and buy you a snack? A small act of kindness to travelers at gas stations can go a long way.

Laundromat Ministry

For those who enjoy the privilege of having washers and dryers at home, doing the laundry is usually convenient and effortless. However, for those who need to use laundromats, it can be a boring and monotonous experience, as they need to get loose change, lug their dirty laundry around, and sit and wait for their laundry. A laundromat outreach ministry where you provide loose change and refreshments can brighten up people’s day and show them the love of Christ.

Water Evangelism

On a hot summer day, nothing can refresh like a cold bottle of water. Whether it is construction workers, joggers at a park, everyone would appreciate water when feeling hot and sweaty. By giving out bottles of water, you can also introduce people to the Living Water.
