Appalachian Coalfields

NC Baptist Men, in partnership with Appalachian Regional Ministries (ARM), has developed the Appalachian Coalfields Ministry. The purpose is to minister both physically and spiritually to people in some of the poorest areas of our nation. The ministry will cover the states of North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky, and West Virginia. Projects may include week-long service in sports, children, evangelism, music, and/or construction ministries, just to name a few. Mission opportunities may also include the collection, delivery, and distribution of needed items such as food, school supplies, baby care items, clothing, and other, which can be done in the course of a few days or over a weekend. Dewey and Kathie Aiken, formerly coordinators of our Vermont Partnership, will be the coordinators for the Appalachian Coalfields Ministry. The Aikens bring both a deep passion for showing the love of Christ to others and an understanding of the needs of mission teams. We are delighted to have Dewey and Kathie in this new position.
