Construction of Wheelchair Access
Barre, Vermont

A team of 5 – 10 volunteers  is needed to build permanent wheelchair access for the church.  Volunteers able to run a compactor, layout pavers, and cut asphalt are needed.  The front access to the building currently has a slight slope and a singe 8” step making unassisted access to the building difficult.  A patio is to be built in this area to provide handicap access as well as provide overflow space for the coffee shop ministry, an area to BBQ, and waiting space for the soup kitchen.  This would consist of approximately 45’ of perimeter wall 3’ tall, filling that interior space with sand and laying patio pavers.  Team contributions appreciated for project as well as prayer for supplies to be donated locally. Team will need to provide their own transportation to Vermont.  Team may stay at church, church members’ homes, or Calef House Retreat center.  Contact requestor for details on how to reserve. Team will need to provide own food, which can be cooked in church kitchen.  Lunch will be provided on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Length of assignment:   one week
Preferred dates:            January to December 2016
Cost:                             Travel to Vermont and food
