Friday, October 15, 2022- Baptists on Mission is currently rebuilding homes in Haywood County that were damaged by the flooding from Tropical Storm Fred. Volunteers are needed. Please click on the "Get Involved" Volunteer Now button on the right to sign up.

Friday, August 27, 2021- NC Baptist Disaster Relief has provided 3,167 hot meals; provided 167 showers; washed 169 loads of laundry; has completed 32 of the 159 job requests; has had 352 volunteers serving; has had 237 chaplain contacts and has had 6 people come to know Christ. Hundreds of homes and families were affected by the flooding. Please continue to pray for these families and churches. Please give and please come and help these families get back in their homes. Baptists on Mission is planning for a long term rebuild effort and we need you and your church or association to come and help. Thank you for Praying, Giving and Going!

Here is the latest update as of Tuesday, Aug. 24 for our NC Baptists on Mission Disaster Relief Tropical Storm Fred response:
FBC Canton - As of today, FBC Canton will be used for recovery volunteer housing. Shower and Laundry will continue to serve volunteers and the community. We have admin volunteers helping manage the site. 
Crestview Baptist Church - We have moved the water tanker and all feeding operations to Crestview. Crestview is also the main site for our recovery operations including lodging for volunteers serving in mud-outs and tear-outs. We have a shower/laundry unit for volunteers to use and also a larger laundry unit to minister to the community. Admin, logistic, assessment, chaplaincy, safety and driver volunteers are also assisting at this site.
Other churches have been identified as lodging for additional volunteers.

8/22/21 Update FBC Canton - we continue to partner with FBC Canton to assist in cooking and serving meals to a local soup kitchen. We are also preparing and serve meals to our volunteers who come to serve at our recovery site. We are also providing a shower/laundry unit for volunteers as well as washing clothes for the community. A water tanker filled with potable water is in place to serve the community with their water needs. We have admin and logistics volunteers helping manage the site.
Crestview Baptist Church - We have set up a Disaster Recovery Operations Center at Crestview Baptist in Canton. This is the base site for all recovery work and will be the main lodging for volunteers serving in mud-outs and tear-outs. We have a shower/laundry unit for volunteers to use and also a larger laundry unit to minister to the larger community. Admin volunteers arealso assisting at this site.
We will begin an additional feeding operation on Wednesday, Aug. 25. The location is being determined now. Those certified in feeding need to communicate your willingness to serve to your blue hat.

8/20/21 Update- Here is the latest update for Tropical Storm Fred response:
 
FBC Canton - we are partnering with FBC Canton to assist them in cooking and serving meals to a local soup kitchen. We will also prepare and serve meals to any volunteers who come to serve at our recovery site. A small feeding team is on their way to Canton. We are also providing a shower/laundry unit for volunteers as well as washing clothes for the community. A water tanker filled with potable water will arrive today to serve the community with their water needs. We will have admin and logistics volunteers helping manage the site.
 
Crestview Baptist Church - We are setting up a Disaster Recovery Operations Center at Crestview Baptist in Canton. This will be the base site for all recovery work and will be the main lodging for volunteers serving in mud-outs and tear-outs. We will also deploy a shower/laundry unit for volunteers use and also a larger laundry unit to minister to the larger community. Admin volunteers will assist at this site as well. We will also house volunteers at a number of other local Baptist Churches.
 
Feeding - We are still determining additional feeding needs and will update as we can.

If people want to donate goods, we are not set up to take goods to the affected areas. They can check with the Red Cross, Salvation Army and local Baptist Associations for those needs.
 


8/18/21 Update-Baptists on Mission Disaster Relief will be responding to help those in need in Haywood and surrounding counties from Tropical Storm Fred. Updates will be posted here and on social media as we get more information. We anticipate needing trained and untrained volunteers as tear-out/mud-out, chainsaw and tarping teams. If you are certified in other Disaster Relief ministries (feeding, admin, assessment, etc.) please communicate your availability to your region or ministry leader.

COVID protocol – We encourage all deployed volunteers to have been vaccinated before deploying to decrease the risk of serious disease and to protect others around us. While inside houses, buildings, etc. all volunteers will wear masks and practice social distancing as best as possible. We will provide hand sanitizer and masks. Please prepare to bring your own as well.
