November 8, 2025 UPDATE
Jamaica - Baptists on Mission Disaster Response has been in contact with our partners and we may need drivers for skid steers for two-week stints—dates to come. There may also be food distribution efforts, and we’re waiting for more details.
We are also exploring sending crews to help roof churches. More information will follow soon.
Cuba - A recent visit was very productive. Our four teams will be traveling between now and Christmas and will assist with food distribution in El Cobre and other hard-hit areas near Santiago, where local churches have set up multiple feeding sites. Our teams will help with cooking, serving, and cleanup efforts of damaged homes
The Eastern Baptist Convention also requested support to help up to ten churches repair storm damage. They will be sending repair estimates soon. One idea is to invite churches in NC and other states to sponsor one of these projects, with Cuban churches/individuals providing the work.

Preparing for a Hurricane Melissa Response in Jamaica and Cuba
NC Baptists on Mission Disaster Response is building an advance roster of volunteers and teams interested in serving in Jamaica or Cuba following Hurricane Melissa.
While we have not yet received an official deployment request, we are preparing now to ensure we can respond immediately if and when the call comes.
This deployment will require physical exertion in a hot climate so you will need to be in good physical condition. You must have a current passport that does not expire within 6 months after your trip.
Sign up today to be on the list! We will communicate to you as soon as we can. Your commitment allows us to mobilize rapidly and effectively.
Financial Note: 100% of your contributions will be used by NC Baptists on Mission or forwarded to trusted partners for direct relief efforts in these two countries.
