VOLUNTEER TEAMS MAY BE NEEDED IN 2024:

There may be opportunities to serve the Lord in Haiti in 2024.  Right now, we are not sending teams due to the political situation in Haiti. We are hoping that we will be able to send teams in the near future. Whether you feel led to provide healthcare, do evangelism, or assist in construction,- you can make an impact.  Teams can walk alongside a church planter sharing the Good News, repair a home or church, meet physical needs working in a medical clinic or help with construction projects in the clinic.

Baptists on Mission is seeking volunteer healthcare providers to assist with the Alpha Omega Medical Ministry (ALOM) in Haiti. ALOM provides basic medical care to Haitians in need of assistance. This ministry was founded by Haitian Doctors Vladimyr Roseau, his wife Merline, and her sister Francise Milien after the 2010 earthquake. ALOM offers both a fixed clinic in the town of Source Matelas, as well as multiple mobile sites surrounding this area. The number of patients needing care far exceeds the number of medical personnel available.

Construction and evangelism teams can choose to assist Pastor Rene Romil, a church planter in Saintard, who is working with several other church planters in the area.  Teams can help build a vocational training center that will teach skills that help open new job opportunities, build temporary chapels in outlying villages, lead crusades, or do street evangelism.

Teams
Teams can be made up of volunteers from one church, several local churches, an association, collegiate healthcare programs, or individuals from across the state. Medical teams should consist of 6-8 members while construction/ evangelism teams can have as many as 14.
The majority of the medical team should be medical personnel, but some non-medical members are encouraged to participate as well.  An ideal team will consist of 1 or 2 primary care providers, several nurses, a pharmacist, and additional medical professionals or non-medical volunteers. But, we are flexible! If you have a specialty you would like to use in Haiti, we will try to find a location for your work. Interpreters will work with each team.

Construction teams should have at least one person who is familiar with construction but not all team members have to have construction experience.  There will be many opportunities to share the Gospel, interact with communities, and participate in revivals or crusades for these teams.  A primary objective of teams replacing roofs damaged by Hurricane Matthew will be to assist church planters in expanding their impact in a community.  In some communities teams will build simple chapels that will serve as the meeting place for a new church.
