Many children who come to the Good Shepherd Children's Home arrive with spiritual, physical, emotional, and educational problems.  Almost all have been denied basic education prior to arriving at the home and function below grade level. The public school system is over-crowded and the teachers are, for the most part, inadequately motivated to make a difference in the lives of individual students.

Verbo, a long-standing Christian denomination in Guatemala, has focused on Christian education for many years, and their schools have an excellent reputation in educating and developing Christian young people. Knowing the importance of a good Christian education, we are seeking to provide an opportunity for children who live in the Good Shepherd Children's Home to attend Verbo Christian School.  We seek to redeem their future and help them become strong Christian leaders who will make a difference in their families, communities, and country.

School tuition is approximately $1200. A full scholarship, including transportation, school uniforms, and books would be $2000 per child for the year. Any amount will help us reach the goal of sending as many of the GSCH children as possible to Verbo Christian Schools.

If you would like to help, please contact Mark Abernathy at NC Baptists on Mission.
