Guatemala GU22-122B

GU22-122B
Keith Henry Team
July 4-6 , 2022

Please note that all volunteers will be required to sign and return COVID-19 and Liability Release Waiver forms. The team will also be responsible for understanding and completing current COVID-19 travel protocols for entry into Guatemala. Effective March 11, 2022, the Government of Guatemala has imposed the following COVID-related entry requirements. Passengers who are Guatemalan citizens, foreigners, residents, accredited diplomats, or airline crew whose final destination is Guatemala must present ONE of the following:
For all travelers aged 12 and over:  Evidence of receiving a complete two-dose COVID-19 vaccination course (or one dose for Johnson & Johnson), with the final dose being administered at least two weeks before beginning your trip to Guatemala; OR
For all travelers aged 10 and over:  Proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test from a certified lab conducted no more than three (3) days prior to check in at the airport or arrival at the land border.

North Carolina Baptists on Mission (NCBM), working in partnership with International Indigenous Community Development (IICD) and the Baptist Children's Home of North Carolina, will send volunteer mission teams to central Guatemala, throughout 2022 to assist with construction and maintenance projects, leadership development, medical/dental, and longer term service (1-3 months) at the children's home.

Located in Quetzaltenango (also known as Xela), these ministries primarily serve the Quiche people, who are the largest indigenous Mayan group in Guatemala. A missionary couple are on-site to provide direction to the team's work.

NCBM will arrange airfare, insurance, and in-country logistics for all teams. Most teams stay comfortably at the Good Shepherd Center, which has kitchen for team's use. Each team should bring 1-2 people who will be in charge of cooking for the week (or rotate that task between team members). Once on the field, team can buy needed groceries in town.

Please note that travelers will need a current passport that has at least six months remaining on it from time of departure. Immunizations include up to date on tetanus and hepatitis A. (Malaria and Typhoid are not required as you will be serving at 8400 feet).
