Guatemala GU19-136

GU19-136
October 7-10, 2019

Toni Bowen, president of IICD, will lead a vision team to the Good Shepherd Ministies in Xela, Guatemala.
North Carolina Baptists on Mission (NCBM) will make all arrangements for this including securing airline tickets for the group.

North Carolina Baptists on Mission (NCBM), working in partnership with International Indigenous Community Development (IICD) and the Baptist Children's Home of North Carolina, will send volunteer mission teams to central Guatemala, throughout 2019 to assist with construction and maintenance projects, leadership development, medical/dental, and longer term service (1-3 months) at the children's home.

Located in Quetzaltenango (also known as Xela), these ministries primarily serve the Quiche people, who are the largest indigenous Mayan group in Guatemala. A missionary couple are on-site to provide direction to the team's work.

Teams stay comfortably at the Good Shepherd Center, which has kitchen for team's use. Each team should bring 1-2 people who will be in charge of cooking for the week (or rotate that task between team members). Once on the field, team can buy needed groceries in town.
