Hurricane Idalia Update: 8-30-23Dear N.C. Baptist Churches/Volunteers, Hurricane Idalia came on shore in the Florida bend as a high category 3 Hurricane. Thanks to your prayers, gifts and support, N.C. Baptists are preparing to serve Hurricane Idalia survivors in some of the worst hit parts of Florida. Feeding Unit #2 (30,000 meals per day capacity) is on alert and preparing to deploy to Florida. Feeding volunteers along with recovery, shower/laundry, logistics, safety, Medical Reserve Corp, communications, admin and chaplaincy volunteers are all preparing to respond. Our swift water rescue team and boat are already in Florida waiting for the storm to pass so that they can respond as needed. We are also watching the path of the storm and are preparing to respond if we have needs in our own state.
