Hurricane Helene Update 11-22-24

In the 8 weeks since Hurricane Helene hit North Carolina, our disaster response teams have offered hope to thousands of people affected by the storm. Thank you for praying, giving and going, the numbers speak for themselves;

# Over 450,000 hot meals were prepared!
# Over 5000 recovery jobs completed (chain saw, mud out or tear out, tarps on roofs)!
# Over 10,000 volunteers at this point!

Originally spread out across 18 sites which included feeding and recovery, that number is currently down to 9 with our feeding operation ending last week.

While recovery efforts continue in many areas helping homeowners remove trees and dispose of water logged material, the Essential Rapid Repairs (ERR) program has begun with a goal of rebuilding up 500-1000 homes. Our desire is to help families return to a safe, secure, functional home as soon as possible. It won’t be a complete rebuild, we’ll come back later to finish the process but at least they’ll be able to move back home.

In the coming months we’ll need licensed plumbers, electricians and people with construction skills. We’ll also need individuals prepared to lend a hand wherever needed.
