One year ago, Hurricane Helene roared across Western North Carolina, leaving a path of destruction that will take years to recover from. Thousands of families were displaced, transportation and communications disrupted and in some cases, towns were totally cut off for days. With God’s help, Baptists on Mission Disaster Response was setting up mobile kitchens and starting recovery operations in multiple locations one day after the rains stopped.

September 27 marks the one year anniversary of Helene and we’re asking churches across NC to celebrate what God has done. Thousands of volunteers answered the call preparing over 500,000 hot meals, clearing trees and preparing homes to be rebuilt. In 12 months we’ve been able to return 500 families to their newly refurbished homes, sharing the love of Jesus through each project.

There are three ways you can help

For the families who are still displaced or living in homes that are in need of repair. That churches will continue to send volunteers to help. That God will open doors and give us opportunities to share the good news of hope in Christ with people we are serving.

100% of all donations through our HELENE REBUILD fund go directly to purchasing materials to rebuild a home for a family. Please give today.

Volunteers will be needed for at least the next 5 years as we begin the process of building new homes for families who lost everything. We need individuals with construction skills, electricians and plumbers but we also need volunteers willing to help wherever needed. Sign up to serve at one of our 5 rebuild centers in Western NC.
