9/15/18 Hurricane Florence UpdateNC Baptists on Mission/NCBM are working with our partners at Emergency management, Red Cross and Salvation Army to place large feeding kitchens in various locations across the flooded areas. Right now, Virginia General Baptists are set up for mass feeding at Second Baptist Church in Washington, NC. We will also do disaster recover (mud-outs, tear-outs) from this location. NC Feeding unit #1 (Manna One) is set up at Temple Baptist Church in New Bern. There will also be a recovery operation out of this location. Our two other large NC units are in other locations awaiting delivery of food and additional equipment and volunteers. Plans are being worked on for additional large kitchen sites and other disaster recovery (mud-out, tear-out, chainsaw locations). The locations of those sites will be finalized as the storm passes and we can get in to set up. The challenges today have been the numerous road closures that have affected our ability to get big feeding units in where we want them and are preventing us from getting food deliveries at some locations. Six other State Conventions are sending feeding units into North Carolina to help us. We are so thankful for our SBC Disaster Relief friends who are coming to help us. https://baptistsonmission.org/Mission-Projects/By-Mission-Type/Disaster-Relief/Hurricane-Florence |
