Hurricane Florence Update

NC Baptists on Mission/NCBM and our friends from sister states have 9 large mobile kitchens that are serving close to 100,000 hot meals every day to people affected by Hurricane Florence. These 9 kitchens are serving in New Bern (NC Unit), Jacksonville (KY Unit), Wilmington (NC Unit), Lumberton (NC Unit), Kinston (TN Unit), Hope Mills (AL Unit), Wallace (MO Unit), Whiteville (FL Unit) and Bolivia (MS Unit). The VA kitchen in Washington closed down on Monday. 200 Red Cross ERV’s (and Salvation Army Canteens) are working out of our 9 big mobile kitchens. So far, more than 700,000 HOT meals have been prepared and served from these 9 kitchens. All of these big kitchens also have recovery operations working out of them. We are doing chainsaw, mud-outs, tear-outs, shockwave/sanitation and put tarps on roofs. We have also set up additional Recovery Sites in a number of areas and have invited our sister state conventions to send recovery teams to either work with us or set up their own sites in parts of our state. Our large Recovery Sites with Site Coordinators include: New Bern, Lumberton, Wilmington, Morehead City, Cape Carteret, Laurinburg, Warsaw, Scott’s Hill, Pender County, Wallace, Shallotte, Bunn Level, Red Springs, Elizabethtown and others are being added soon.

VA Board of Missions is working in Beauford Co., Pollocksville, Trenton and Maysville. Texas Baptists (TBM) is working in Bayboro, Pamlico Co, Carteret County and SBVA are working in Davis, NC. We are so thankful for our friends from these and many other states who have come to help us!

We are also distributing cleaning supplies, non-perishable items/canned food, diapers, baby formula, etc. to more than 20 different Distribution sites from our warehouse in Red Springs.
