Volunteers are immediately needed to help as North Carolina Baptists on Mission are responding to recent flooding in Mecklenburg and Catawba counties. Days of heavy rainfall caused drainage ditches, creeks, streams, and rivers to overflow their banks. Numerous houses have been damaged, and homeowners need your assistance. Disaster relief operations centers have been set up in both counties and the need for volunteers is great at both sites.

For information about the Mecklenburg site, call 704-840-0513 or email f.mecklenburg@ncmissions.org.

The Catawba County site is located at Oxford Baptist Church, 5965 Springs Rd., Conover. Call 828-514-4070 for volunteer information.

Assessors have found many homes with water and tree damage in both locations. In Hickory, assessors encountered several blocked roads because of washed-out bridges. One group of assessors was escorted on foot by local firefighters through pastures and water damaged driveways to reach survivors.

Baptists on Mission volunteers are praying with the survivors asking God to protect, strengthen, and grant His peace to those who have weathered the storm. If you can help, please contact Jimmy Lawrence at 336-613-6711 or e-mail Jimmy at jimmy.lawrence@ncmissions.org.
