Since the early 2000's Baptists on Mission has been sending teams to work with the Eastern Baptist Convention of Cuba, located in Santiago, Cuba. The partnership began with construction teams building a retirement home near Santiago, primarily for pastors and their spouses in retirement. The retirement home provides comfortable living quarters, medical care, and healthy meals for the residents. Work continues on helping maintain the retirement home and teams are encouraged to use their skills in painting, construction, plumbing, electrical and other ways to assist at the retirement home. 

For the past 8 years, teams have also been participating in construction of a few buildings at My Camp, located in Santa Clara, Cuba also operated by the Eastern Baptist Convention. Santa Clara is in the middle of the country and is the least churched and least evangelized area in all of Cuba. The camp serves as a location for children and youth camps, church group outings and seminary classes for training church planters. 

We are excited about your interest in the Cuba partnership and potentially sending a team. Although all of our projects are construction in nature, we sometimes have the opportunity to work with local churches. Churches in Cuba are mostly contemporary in worship style. The primary purpose of the partnership is construction of a building at the retirement home in Santiago, Cuba and construction of seminary buildings in Santa Clara, Cuba. All construction teams need at least one skilled construction person. Construction teams will have an opportunity to visit with and get to know Cuban Baptists as well as worship in Cuban Baptist churches. Team members are encouraged to share their faith with people that they meet.
