Baptists on Mission partners with the Hawaii-Pacific Baptist Convention. Projects include opportunity to serve at the Baptist Camp on the island of Oahu, along with other requests that come from local churches.

Overview

Baptists on Mission is in partnership with the Hawaii-Pacific Baptist Convention since 2006. For most of this time, volunteers have been helping at the Baptist Conference Center on the island of Oahu. The conference center is a major ministry resource for Hawaii Baptist congregations, training their members for ministry, and ministering to children and youth during the summer. Other requests from Hawaii congregations may include VBS, backyard Bible clubs, music, sports, construction, and more. The Hawaiian Islands have long been the “gateway” to the US for many coming from East Asia. Please be in prayer about how you and your church may assist in reaching Hawaii for Christ.

Start by viewing a current list of 2027 Hawaii projects. Note: Projects listed at the bottom of this page are for those who already have secured a project and are in the process of registering their team.
Once you have reviewed the list, pray about which project(s) you might want to respond to.
Contact Mark Abernathy (mabernathy@ncbaptist.org or 919-459-5607) to express interest and get contact information.
You will be put in direct contact with the requestor in Hawaii to ask any and all questions.
If, after conversation, you and the requestor feel it is a good match, set a date with them for your team’s service, and let Mark Abernathy know.
You will be sent instructions for securing the project (from the list below) on behalf of your team by registering as team leader.

Highlighted Needs

VBS in Haleiwa, Oahu (HW27-001; 002; 003)
A team of 8-10 experienced with working with children is needed to conduct a three hour Vacation Bible School for elementary children – one in May, one in July, and one in December of 2027. Will need those to lead in all aspects of VBS – Bible story, crafts, music, recreation, and snack. Team will need to provide VBS materials. Requestor will have options for housing and meal preperation for the team.

Volunteer Camp Staff in Waianae, Oahu (HW27-006)
Couples are needed year-round to be volunteer staff at Pu’u Kahea Conference Center, helping to maintain the facility. Work may include housekeeping, general maintenance and cleaning, landscaping, laundry, and other duties as needed. Volunteers work 5 days and are off 2 days per week. Individuals may also be considered, depending on housing availability. Need those who are self-starters, in good physical condition and able to put in full day’s work. Couples are expected to commit to at least one full month of service.
