Colorful fall foliage, covered bridges, maple syrup, and small family farms are among the things that give the state of Vermont unique charm. However, despite it's appeal, a deep spiritual need abides here. According to polls, Vermont is annually at, or near, the top of the most unchurched states in our nation. Despite that unwanted title, God is at work in Vermont and North Carolina Baptists are playing a part. North Carolina Baptists have enjoyed a fruitful partnership with the churches of the Green Mountain Baptist Association since 2005. During that time, thousands of volunteers have served in a multitude of ways. In 2017 mission teams will be needed for music outreach, sports camps, block parties, VBS, construction, and more. Please pray about your church's participation in this meaningful partnership!
An initial list of 2017 PROJECT REQUESTS have come in and are listed below. You can also click here to view and/or print a project list. Once you have looked it over, contact our office (Mark Abernathy at email@example.com ; 919-459-5607) to secure a mission project in Maine for your church!
Steve and Nellene Carter of Lincolnton, NC, serve as our on-site coordinators in Vermont. The Carters work with Vermont leaders in understanding what a mission team can do for their church. They then collect requests from the field, which are posted on this site. They are a good resource for teams in both the planning process and once they arrive on site in Vermont. We are blessed to have the Carters in this position. Please keep them in your prayers.
Note: The Carters reside in North Carolina for the months of November through April. If you would like them to come speak to your church concerning the work in Vermont, please contact them at firstname.lastname@example.org. Understand that the Carters raise their own support in order to serve in Vermont. Please be prepared to offer them an honorarium to cover their expenses if you invite them to come speak. If traveling a distance, they will need help with hotel room or a place to stay the night. Thanks!
