As Hurricane Dorian moves toward Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas, we are anticipating what will be a very devastating storm. Forecasters are predicting at least a category 3 storm that will make landfall.

We have asked our NC Disaster Relief volunteers to prepare to serve, including feeding, recovery, chainsaw, shower, chaplain, temporary roofing, child care and laundry teams.

People and families will be searching for help and answers. They will be grieving and looking for assistance. God cares deeply about the hurting, and, as His followers, we do as well.

How can you help?

  • Pray. Pray the storm turns back into the Atlantic Ocean. Pray for those who are preparing for the storm and those who will experience it. Pray for God's protection and comforting hand upon their lives. Pray for wisdom, strength and sensitivity on the part of those who respond after the storm.
  • Go. With an expected disaster this large, we will need many volunteers to serve. As it is safe to do so, we will be sending both trained and untrained volunteers to help.
  • Give financially. Baptists on Mission is well prepared because of the faithful support of people like you. Our Disaster Relief ministry is supported through the NC Missions Offering and designated giving to Disaster Relief efforts. This effort will be expensive, but we trust God will move in the hearts of people to support this crucial ministry.
